Why there is no contact form
A form would have to collect and transmit what you type, which would mean processing personal data and, in most implementations, loading a third-party service or writing something to your browser. This site promises to collect nothing, and we would rather keep that promise than offer a slightly more convenient box. E-mail puts you in control of what you send and of the copy you keep in your own sent folder.
What we can and cannot help with
We can help with
- factual corrections to anything published here — see the corrections procedure;
- a company’s right of reply to something we have written about it;
- data protection requests and questions about this site’s privacy practices;
- copyright and permission requests for our text or our diagrams;
- telling you where in a vendor’s documentation to find something.
We cannot help with
- Orders, subscriptions, renewals, refunds or cancellations. We sell nothing. If you bought software, your contract is with that vendor, and only the vendor can change it. We have no access to your account and cannot see your purchase.
- Technical support for a product. Contact the vendor’s support channel; it is staffed by people who can see your installation.
- Recovering an infected or locked machine. We are a publication, not an incident response service. For a serious incident, your national cyber-security authority publishes guidance and reporting routes.
